The 2010 GCE ‘O’ Level examination results were released on Monday afternoon at the respective secondary schools of students who sat for the national exam last year.

SNGS student Chia Pei Yun, who scored 10 A1s, was revealed to be the student with the highest scores in her cohort.

According to a Channel NewsAsia report, apart from Pei Yun, three other students came out tops in the Chinese student category. They are Teo Jing Ming (Catholic High School). Julia Shan-Wen Fung (Singapore Chinese Girls’ School) and Choo Hui Ting Felicia (Methodist Girls’ School). All three students scored nine A1s and one A2 each.

Victoria School’s Muhammad Amirul Haqim B G was the top Malay student with his score of nine A1s.

Also scoring nine A1s are the top students in the Indian student category. They are Kashmira, H Sharanya Pillai and Leah Tom from Cedar Girls’ Secondary School, Riverside Secondary School and Crescent Girls’ School respectively.

Neubronner Daniel Robert of St. Joseph’s Institution, also scored nine A1s in the top Eurasian student category.

The release of the O-level results on Monday saw little change in the overall performance of students islandwide.

Out of 37,655 students who took the examination last year, 99.8 per cent — or 37, 598 — were awarded certificates for obtaining at least one or more GCE ‘O’ Level passes.
