nah, learning English in China is bullshit. Without a good environment, it's hard to improve English both verbally and conceptually. It's pointless to go back to learn English just for that lousy exam. You'd rather spend your time wisely here in Singapore to immerse yourself in a rather positive English environment, be it a long run consideration or a short run exam oriented decision.

At least to me, 新东方 ( the New Oriental Language School ) sucks like shit. In fact, I hardly find any English professor in China speaks and writes proper English. Being too exam oriented is also absolutely no good to your English study.

Do get yourself a good English tutor or go to a reasonably good language school to get some intensive trainings. I was trained in Raffles Institution (No.1 secondary school) when I first came here, and the teachers there were really good. As for IELTS, you do need to improve your oral English well. Therefore immersing in an English environment is crucial.

I don't mean to discourage you but to obtain an IELTS score of 5.5 (be it academic or general) from zilch in six months is quite impossible. Language learning is a lifelong undertaking - Rome wasn't built in a day! [em01]
